Questions worth asking in a first interview

The first interview with an emerging artist should be specific. Where was the song made, who is in the room, which city is the chorus for, and what should a DJ understand before they play it? Those answers help listeners. A list of favourite celebrities does not.

When a real interview is published here, you will see the artist’s own account of the record, a date, and a writer’s name. The artist will have approved the factual credits.

Good interviews also mark what is not claimed. If the song is not on editorial playlists, the piece should not imply that it is. Promotion and journalism can share a building without sharing a script.
